Welcome

This is the official CARDEN SCHOOL® Web site. It is presented by the Carden Educational Foundation, the organization established by Mae Carden to carry forward the teaching and publishing of the CARDEN METHOD®. Our site will give you information about CARDEN® and a means of ordering and paying for curriculum materials.

"Miss Carden and her work remain a well-kept secret of American education," wrote educator Ronald E. Koetzsch, Ph. D., author of The Parents' Guide to Alternatives in Education. "This is unfortunate, since the Carden reading methods and curriculum, and the schools that use them, comprise an important potential resource for American education," he said. We hope this Web site will help you learn more about our "secret."

The Foundation is a non-profit corporation. Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. Donations are appreciated.

Carden Keynote
For Administrators and Teachers of the CARDEN METHOD®
“Dignity is the keynote of a Carden School,” said the first issue of this newsletter back in January of 1992. Now it is an electronic newsletter. We hope this and future issues keep the keynote of Carden sounding with clarity.

More about Carden

Programs

The Foundation provides courses, seminars, workshops, and demonstrations for teachers and administrators. These are offered regularly at regional meetings. To meet the needs of a particular school, specific programs may be arranged on site.

Carden tecniques have proven themselves to be effective for more than 70 years!

Teachers observe Carden educational philosophy and teaching techniques in action as master teachers demonstrate teaching and learning the Carden way with students in their classroom or in a classroom setting.

Order Materials

To order materials of the CARDEN METHOD®, teachers must have taken the appropriate course(s) as required by the Foundation.

To assure the integrity of the curriculum, the school, tutor, or independent teacher must agree to and sign the Carden License.
