Demonstration Teaching 2012 Carden students enjoy participation in demonstrations. Each year groups of youngsters from the preschool through Grade Eight come to a special CARDEN SCHOOL® arranged by the Carden Educational Foundation. Do the children participating in these demonstration classes rehearse ahead of time? No. They do not know what the particular subjects of their lessons will be. They do know that they will have a Carden® class, and that their Carden® schooling is adequate preparation! Among the lessons are reading, spelling, arithmetic, and one or more other subjects. Specific lessons vary from year to year. Students are new, too. During these unrehearsed lessons, teachers witness Carden® educational philosophy and teaching techniques in action. Attention to the teaching by the instructor and the learning by the students produces personal benefits for you as a teacher. You will observe Carden® techniques, and consider their effects upon the students' learning. Students leave after the last lesson. The demonstrator then opens the program to observers for their comments and questions. There is an interchange of encouragement. Because Carden places a strong emphasis on teaching ahead, we suggest that you attend the grade before and after the one you teach. You many attend as many demonstration classes as you like for one flat fee of $115 per person. Click here to register.
Developing Skill as a Carden Teacher CARDEN® Courses provide regular opportunities for professional development. Mae Carden stressed to teachers the importance of keeping current. “A teacher is not effective who does not keep abreast of the times. He has to keep informed and should widen his interests. In-service courses are necessary, but the teacher should widen his own scope and cultivate his own taste if he is to whet the appetite of his students.” – Quality Teaching, Successful Learning, Page 76. The Carden Educational Foundation is pleased to offer CARDEN® training courses designed for teachers new to the CARDEN METHOD® and those who have taught it for many years.
